Artist Bio
Christine Carey is Sydney based. She has been studying collage for the past six years under two different teachers with differing approaches and has found she really enjoyed expressing herself through collage. Guided by the principles and elements of Collage her aim is to create structured compositions which are balanced and unified.
Artist Statement
I love to work with colour, which is apparent in much of my work. Also I like the idea of a hint of a narrative in the composition. Sometimes I start with an idea or a theme but often I find inspiration in a particular image and then work intuitively. It’s about figuring out how to manipulate materials and colours in such a way as to compose a finished work that satisfies me. I use cutting, ripping and overlaying of paper and other materials.
